Eight United States junior golfers will compete July 23-25 in the first China - USA Youth Team Golf Championship in Langfang City, China. This is the first such match between junior golfers from the USA and China. Full Story |
National Football League Hall-of-Famer John Elway has received the "Brodie Award." The award is given in recognition of an individual's accomplishments in both a chosen profession and in the sport of golf. The Brodie honoree is selected by a panel of tournament officials and is awarded at the event, held this year July 11-13. Full Story |
Patrick Cantlay of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Veronica Valerio of Temecula, Calif., both jumped into the greenside pond on No. 18 in celebration of their victories at the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior on Thursday. Cantlay finished with a three-day tournament total of 7-under-par 209 in the Boys Division while Valerio carded a 1-over par 217 to win the Girls Division by three strokes. Full Story |

Sunrise made the golf course emerge as if from a dream. One by one the stars winked out in the West and, with a stretch, a yawn and a slow unfolding of her legs from bed, the sun gradually gave a streak of pale, watery light that crested the wrinkled brow of the Pinto Mountains in Palm Springs, Calif. As they have since Genesis, the broad, rugged, rumpled shoulders of the hills reached from the floor of the dusty plain below and lifted the sun into the sky so she could greet 17 altruistic professional athletes as they begin their quest to change the lives of those less fortunate than themselves.

Final U.S. Open Qualifying was held Monday at 14 sites, including 13 in the U.S. and another in England. On May 26, a qualifier was held in Osaka, Japan, where Artemio Murakami of the Philippines and Craig Parry of Australia earned a spot in next week's Open at Torrey Pines. Full Story |
Fourteen more professional golfers earned full exemptions into the upcoming 2008 U.S. Open by being in the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking or by being among the top money leaders for the year as of May 26. A total of 72 golfers are now fully exempt from qualifying for the upcoming championship, scheduled from June 12-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif. Full Story |
